This presentation discusses the design and status of the Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Integrated System Test (IST), being assembled at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The IST is a two shaft closed Brayton cycle with a turbine driven compressor and a turbine driven generator. The main test loop also includes three major heat exchangers; the intermediate heat exchanger (heat addition), the recuperator (waste heat recovery), and the precooler (heat rejection). A representative IST heat balance is presented. Major component design is discussed, along with the major support systems. This test loop is scheduled to be operational in early 2010.
