How New Microchannel Heat Exchanger Reduced Pressure Drop to 1/6 Inheriting High Heat Transfer Performance

A new microchannel heat exchanger with discontinuous “S”-shape-fins provides about six times lower pressure drop than a conventional one with continuous zigzag-fins inheriting the same high heat transfer performance. Mechanisms of the pressure drop reduction and heat transfer enhancement in the new microchannel heat exchanger are thermal hydraulically discussed.
